Hello I am Izizwa. I live in DuNoon. I live with my mom and three brothers. My mom is a widow and works as a maid. My dad died while driving our only car, he was drunk and drove off of a bridge. I am eleven years old and my mom is twenty five.
This morning I got out of bed, and I got my school top on, I got my bag and then I went outside. Outside a maze awaited me, a maze of shacks and sheds. When I got to school I went to the hall with everyone else. Then I got to work,we all sat on the ground in a circle, we had to share one book for every fourteen children. Soon school end, I did not want to leave because I could not see anything. There are no lights or lampposts and there is glass, metal, nails and rubbish everywhere.
Sometimes I wish people would care enough to clean or thou away their rubbish. It would life a bit better for everyone. It is hard having a life in these conditions for a child like me. The only thing I can do now is go with it and ask for a proper home and school.

Declan, you have described quite well some of the challenges that Izizwa has to face at home and at school. Perhaps more details about his own house and wider township environment could have also been included in your description. More explanation of the changes he hopes to see in his environment is also needed.
